The New York International Gift Fair – Judaica Pavillion

Product
The New York International Gift Fair is one of the most significant gift shows of the year  which why I have been compelled to go every year since 2007.  This time, I brought my photographer Rebecca to share in the excitement and capture some of the great networking events with a wide range of worldy attendees.
The Jacob Javits Convention Center on the West Side of Manhattan is the most massive indoor space housing all different types of products from hundreds of buyers from around the globe. I visited with the artists from the Judaica Pavilion which had amazing and well priced   items.
One in particular carried the most unique items I have ever seen.  One of the artists I visited was Daniel Azoulay.
Daniel  was not present  but his wife Janin Friedlander Azoulay was there with her daughter Dorin.
Janin described to me the uniqueness of their beautiful Ketubah as she said “ are make in paper cut and are the most popular items along the house blessings this year”
She continues to explain that these Ketubah combine a Moroccan style and tradition that bring a Moroccan flavor to his work”
About Daniel Azoulay

Daniel Azoulay is a well-known and prize-winning Jerusalem artist. Born in Morocco, Daniel grew up in the northern Galilee town of Qiryat Shmona, and studied in Jerusalem at the Bezalel Art Academy. In his art, the landscapes of Daniel’s childhood are combined with Jewish symbolism, artistic and architectural motifs from Europe, Morocco and Israel.

Known for his hand painted ceramic judaica, Azoulay’s artistic attention has been increasingly drawn to paper cut design. His ketubahs are the culmination of research, inspiration and creativity, months of design refinement and, finally, exquisite execution.

All of Daniel Azoulay’s ketubahs are printed by the giclee method – modern day lithography – cut by laser and hand-embellished with 24 karat gold leaf. Each ketubah is dated, numbered and signed by the artist and is one of a limited edition. It not only imbues the marriage ceremony with beauty, but is an artwork to be lastingly treasured by future generations. It is the new couple’s first family heirloom.
