In his 24 year real estate career, Alan Simonowitz has functioned as a commercial mortgage & sales broker, developer and lender. He has been involved in over a $1,000,000,000 of real estate transactions that has encompassed virtually every property type.

Alan comes to Berko & Associates after a seven year tenure at Homes For America Holdings, Inc. (HFAH), where he was Director of Finance and responsible for arranging the financing of the company’s developments and acquisitions. Projects included the construction three hi-rise waterfront condominium towers in Fort Myers, FL, the renovation and repositioning of the former Colt Fire Arms manufacturing site in Hartford, CT into 278 market rate apartments and 325,000 square feet of various types of commercial space, financing of the company’s headquarters building in Yonkers, NY and the financing of multi-family properties nationwide. Prior to joining HFAH, Alan was associated with a number of New York City’s premier commercial mortgage companies including the Carlton Group and Pergolis-Swartz.

He is a graduate of Baruch College with a major in Finance and Investments and a minor in Accounting. After graduation, Alan worked as a corporate financial analyst for the Bradford Trust Company and its subsequent purchaser, The Bank of New York.

Alan combines his analytical acumen of his corporate background with the entrepreneurship of his real estate career to bring a unique perspective to the transactions he is involved with. This combination allows him to what he calls “Maximizing Reality”; the ability to focus on a transaction’s most salient & documentable points and putting them into the best possible light to obtain the best possible structure for his buyers, sellers and borrowers.

In his free time Alan enjoys seeing independent & foreign films, going to the theatre, visiting historical places and playing& watching sports.
