Whether you’re a computer novice or a tech whiz, you’ll shine at our kids camps and pre-teen camps for ages 7-17 (Jump to Teen Programs). Week-long sessions include nurturing, personalized technology instruction, and a variety of fun summer camp activities. Come explore a university campus with us, get inspired by energetic instructors, and build critical 21st century STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills.
HIGH-ENERGY, HANDS-ON EXPERIMENTATION
Our labs buzz with excitement and innovation. We get noisy at times. We collaborate and learn from new friends. We’re guided by high-energy, tech-savvy instructors, and our imaginations soar. Yes, I’ll make my own video game. Or learn to program my very own iPhone or Android App. Perhaps I’ll code the next big thing in C++ or Java™. Maybe I’ll design a website or produce a film. This is my camp. I learn at my pace. It’s MY internalDrive.
With personalized instruction and never more than 8 students per instructor guaranteed, this is anything but a typical classroom environment. There are no grades here. We take the pressure off so you can get straight to what matters—building a love of learning, bringing your final project to life with unabashed creativity. If the iD Way deems us un-school, well, we wouldn’t have it any other way. (Jump to Teen Programs)

From the Head of School
When The Abraham Joshua Heschel School was founded in 1983, a new model of Jewish day school was created. Named after one of the great Jewish leaders, teachers, and activists of the twentieth century, The Heschel School opened with a commitment to creating a pluralistic Jewish community dedicated to the values that characterized Rabbi Heschel’s life: intellectual exploration, respect, integrity, love of the Jewish people and tradition, and a commitment to social justice.
Today, from Nursery through Grade 12, our approach to education, pluralism, and our concern for students’ intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development continue to inform our daily interactions in our school community. Across our curriculum, we foster academic excellence, as well as a love of learning and exploration. Our program emphasizes critical thinking and supports the diverse talents of our student body.
All of us involved in the work of The Heschel School strive to cultivate the spiritual lives of our students and nurture their commitment to Jewish life. We help them understand and respect a range of Jewish practice, and we encourage them to embody these traditions in the way they live their lives as citizens of a diverse world community. We also engage our students in a meaningful relationship with the language, culture, land, and people of the State of Israel.
I hope that this website will begin to introduce you to the Heschel School, and all of us at Heschel look forward to meeting you when you visit the school to experience the culture and philosophy that are the hallmarks of a Heschel education.

The Chabad Preschool at Beekman Place is a small, intimate Jewish preschool in East Midtown whose mission is to provide a warm and nurturing environment where children can grow and develop emotionally, cognitively and physically. Based on the knowledge that the formative years of early childhood are vitally important, each child is viewed as a seed that we nurture with the utmost care; the seed’s every experience will shape and color the quality of its matured self. Our carefully crafted program is designed to provide children with the early foundation and framework necessary for the transition to elementary school and beyond. Children learn to develop the literacy, numeracy, reasoning, and decision making skills that form a foundation for school readiness. In addition, children learn socialization skills, build self- confi dence and develop the preliminary skills to explore and experience their world independently from their parents.
